The annual peony season marks the joyful start of warmer days and longer nights. The flowers really blossom from tight bud to blowsy, layered petals sometimes changing colours completely in the process.
I have chosen to celebrate this special moment by capturing from life varieties of peonies in their full, fleeting glory. I change the backgrounds to create an individual atmosphere for each piece - sometimes delicate, sometimes moody; a true reflection of nature’s temperament itself.
The Peony Collection is very special to me and I am quite sad that the season is now over for another year. I have loved the routine of purchasing the fresh flowers and bringing them into my home to paint, imprinting their life forever in oils.
